Job Purpose
The Able Seaman (AB) supports the deck department in daily vessel operations, including watchkeeping, mooring, maintenance, and safety drills. This role is essential to ensuring safe navigation, efficient deck operations, and compliance with international maritime standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform bridge watchkeeping and lookout duties.
- Assist with mooring and unmooring operations.
- Carry out deck maintenance, painting, and general upkeep.
- Support cargo operations and participate in safety drills.
- Handle lifeboats and survival craft as required.
- Follow instructions from deck officers and contribute to overall vessel safety.
Required Documents & Certifications
- Certificate of Proficiency – AB (Reg. II/5)
- Watchkeeping Certificate (for foreign licence holders)
- STCW Basic Safety certification
- Proficiency in Survival Craft
- Valid Medical Certificate
- Seaman’s Book and Passport
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum required sea-time experience as a deck rating.
- Knowledge of seamanship, mooring operations, and deck maintenance.
- Familiarity with international maritime safety standards.

General Requirements

- Valid STCW 2010 (Manila Amendments)
- Previous SEV or offshore vessel experience preferred
